William
L Graham acquired his initial 560 acres within this section in
1949. The Graham Family maintained their homestead there
until it was purchased by Tom Devlin in 1996. In the center of the
square mile were 80 acres owned by the Dinkler Siblings, a brother
and two sisters from Oklahoma. The Dinkler's owned the property
that now holds the clubhouse, the 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 18th holes.
This track was purchased by Graham in 1980 to complete his
ownership of the entire section. Located on this property was the
worlds first round house invented by Buckminster Fuller to be a
factory assembled luxury home. The Dymaxion house was built
by Beech Aircraft Company out of airplane parts. The house was
donated to the Henry Ford museum in Dearborn, Michigan in 1987.
The Graham's main house which sat on a small body of water, was
made of small wood bricks, one of Graham's many inventions. In the
middle of the living room was a trap door which Mr. Graham used as
his indoor fishing hole. |
